Samhita is a film & media composer and arranger based out of Chicago. Her most recent work includes the original score for the independent short film, "Heart Square" and the short film "All The While" released in June 2023. She is currently finishing her degree in Film Scoring with a minor in Recording and Production at Berklee College of Music.

She began her musical journey in Carnatic vocal music (South Indian Classical), training from the age of three. In 2019, she performed her Carnatic vocal debut arangetram, inducting her into the professional Carnatic music arena. Through her mastery in Carnatic music, she often explores melodic and rhythmic improvisational techniques paralleling Western Jazz music.

Samhita has performed in Carnatic music venues all over the U.S. including the Chicago Tyagaraja Utsavam, Sri Annamacharya Project of North America, Carnatic Youth Festival, Indian Raga Labs, etc, as well as venues in India. She has won numerous honors from the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana for vocal performance, and Sangeetha Samrat National Competition (USA). She currently tours as a lead Carnatic vocalist for classical dance debut performances and high profile weddings.

Samhita is passionate about merging her cultural musical background with a multitude of Western musical genres. She is professionally trained in Western classical vocal styles and techniques, musical theater, contemporary Pop and R&B, and many others. She is YoungArts Scholar, a recipient of the Rebecca Gayle Berger Memorial Scholarship, and is a recipient of the Berklee World Tour Scholarship.

Through film scoring, Samhita hopes to bridge Eastern and Western musical styles and create a multi-national, genre-bending blend of music. Her influences include Hildur Guðnadóttir, Nicholas Britell, Thomas Newman, Theodore Shapiro, and many other composers that combine classical and contemporary techniques.
